Cloud Computing Projects In Chennai
Initially, you opt for one vendor or cloud-service provider. Later, you may want to switch your data to another vendor or cloud-service provider. But vendor lock-in is one major drawback in cloud computing. This is because when you opt for a cloud-based service they may use certain proprietary tools and techniques. If you want to switch to a competitor cloud technology this vendor lock-in causes incompatibility.

In cloud computing, the process of switching from one service provider to another service provider is very complicated. When someone wants to move data from one cloud-service provider to another then the data must first be moved to the customer's PC or storage. Then the data has to be moved to another cloud-service providers servers. The original data may have been modified to choose a vendors' need. So, the movement from one vendor to another will also involve some data translation.

To avoid vendor lock-in, certain precautionary steps have to be taken. When you enroll with a cloud-service provider read all their agreement papers. Find out what is their data migration policy. You need to check if the vendor will provide a large-scale data migration tool. If the vendors follow certain global standards and protocols to store data, then data transfer becomes easy. You need to check if your vendor is following standards such as Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) standard created by the Storage Networking Industry Association.
